You don't have to know where to begin

However you've come to be here — newly bereaved, or carrying a loss from long ago — you are welcome. Take this gently; there's no pressure and nothing you have to do.

  1. First, breathe

There is no right way to grieve, and nothing you need to do today. Whatever you're feeling — numb, angry, exhausted, or nothing at all — it's allowed. You don't have to have words for it.

  2. If things feel unbearable right now

Purpose in Pain isn't a crisis service. If you or someone else is in danger, or you just need to talk to someone this minute, there are people ready to listen, day or night.

    See urgent help
  3. When you'd like gentle company

Read a few reflections — short, honest words on grief and hope. Take whichever meets you today; there's no order to follow, and nothing to sign up for.

  4. When you're ready for someone alongside you

Pelumi is private one-to-one support over five gentle weeks; Cherish is a small group walking together. Both are online, and both begin with a free, no-pressure call.

  5. If you'd just like to reach out

You're welcome to send a message — about anything, or nothing in particular. Atinuke reads every one personally.

Not a crisis service

Purpose in Pain offers gentle grief support — it is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, please contact your local emergency services right away, or see urgent help.
